Design Manager: shopping cart and completion action

With the Booking view of a design, you determine whether an offer booking leads via the classic completion or first via the shopping cart. The shopping cart shows the specific booking process and can include suitable memberships. It is a system page of the flow; a new body template «Shopping cart» is not freely assembled with widgets for this purpose.

Select prerequisites and the correct design context

  • Edit access to the Design Manager and your own design; the design settings of the protected system design cannot be changed for this purpose.

  • Effective category assignment of the design and at least one publicly bookable offer.

  • For subscription features: activation in the Plugin Manager and suitable published plans or existing subscriptions. The subscription selection widget in the summary requires Bootstrap 5.3.

The Subscription design explains the public catalog and the separate subscription checkout. You set up the subscription limitation of a price category in Price categories.

Set the booking view

  1. Open the Design Manager, select your own design, and open its design settings.

  2. Select the desired variant under Booking view and save the setting.

  3. Check the category assignment of the design and open the public link of exactly this category or its offer.

VariantExpected completion path
Classic booking flowThe primary completion action uses the normal booking/payment path. An additional shopping cart access can be offered in the completion button.
Memberships with shopping cartThe primary completion action first opens the shopping cart with the membership options available for this process. The specific completion is continued there.

Configure the Complete button

  1. Select the template Summary / Complete in the body and open the Complete button.

  2. Select automatic, booking, shopping cart, payment, or custom text under Button text. For custom text, you maintain each language used. Empty custom texts fall back to the appropriate default label.

  3. For a classic flow, activate Offer shopping cart if necessary. This allows an additional shopping cart button to appear next to the direct completion.

  4. Select the alignment of the actions and save the widget settings as well as any open layout changes.

The label does not control the action. The text «Shopping cart» alone does not activate a cart. Likewise, «Book» does not disable a shopping cart route configured in the design. Use automatic labels if the actual route may change with the price or booking status.

For waiting list and request list entries, the shopping cart is not offered here as either the primary or an additional completion route. Check these list cases through their own completion action.

Add shopping cart to the navigation

  1. Open the header of the used design and the navigation menu.

  2. Activate Show shopping cart in navigation and save.

  3. Check the entry point with an ongoing booking session. If a different default design is used for the participant account, check its header separately.

The navigation switch provides an entry point into the existing booking context. It does not create an additional offer booking or replace subscription or price category authorization.

Example: Single booking with optional subscription

A provider wants to continue offering a direct course completion. They keep Classic booking flow, activate Offer shopping cart in the completion button, and use automatic labeling. A person checks the course booking and can alternatively open the shopping cart. There they see the membership options available for this process. The team checks the amount with and without the appropriate benefit as well as the actual booking confirmation.

If every suitable offer booking should first go through this common check, the provider instead selects Memberships with shopping cart. An active plugin or a visible catalog alone does not switch this design mode.

Check results and error cases

  • Check paid and free offers, an authorized and an unauthorized person, as well as a booking without a subscription. Check: actually selected action, total amount, legal text confirmations, and final booking/payment status.

  • If the button unexpectedly opens the direct completion, check the booking view, the actual category assignment, and whether a list case is currently present.

  • If only the additional button is missing, check Offer shopping cart and whether the shopping cart is already the primary action. In the primary variant, no second similar access is needed.

  • If subscription options are missing, check plugin status, published plan, authorization, validity, and specific price/offer rules. Do not change only the button label for this.

  • If an outdated shopping cart link returns to the summary, restart from the current offer/booking context and check whether the design still enables the shopping cart.

  • Check all languages, the mobile view and the actual website integration. During bank authorization or with payment outstanding, loading a completion page is not proof of payment.
