Plugins: trial period, billing, and cancellation

Before activating or cancelling a plugin, check the current terms in its details view. The monthly price, setup costs, trial period, currency and minimum term can differ for each extension and existing contract.

Start and end a trial

  1. Open the required extension in the Plugin Manager.
  2. Check whether a trial is offered and how long it lasts.
  3. Confirm the start of the trial and note the displayed end date.
  4. Set up the feature using a manageable example and check the workflow.
  5. If you do not want to continue using the extension, end the trial using the available action before it expires.

An offered trial is available only once per account and plugin. Enabling it again does not reset it. Once it expires, paid use begins under the confirmed terms; agreed setup costs may also apply. Therefore, review the confirmation dialog before starting.

Ending an ongoing trial disables the plugin immediately. Plan your test so that no unattended live processes depend on it yet.

Distinguish the account trial from a plugin trial

The trial of your edoobox organiser account and a trial of an individual plugin have their own settings and end dates. Extending an account trial does not start a new plugin trial. Likewise, disabling a plugin ends neither the account subscription nor other extensions.

Before the displayed end date, check separately:

  • Organiser account: check the current plan, trial end date and any paid switch you have already confirmed under subscription settings. To end the account, use account pause or account termination.
  • Plugin: check the trial end date, current status and confirmed terms in that plugin’s details view. A trial of a plugin billed monthly becomes paid use after its own trial ends unless ended beforehand. Reactivation does not create another free trial.

If the organiser account remains unchanged on the trial plan, expiry leads into the current subscription/upgrade process; unlike a plugin trial, expiry alone does not cause a switch to a paid plan. Still check any plan switch you have already deliberately confirmed and any separately activated plugins. Continue a trial account explains how to continue within the existing account.

End an unwanted plugin trial using its available action and verify the inactive status. Do not rely on non-use or on a different trial end date in the account. An already expired plugin trial is accounted for in billing from the promised trial end date, even if processing takes place later.

Monthly billing and contractual terms

Paid monthly plugins are charged in advance for each period. Any stated setup fee is added according to the displayed terms. Check the charges in the edoobox account journal and distinguish them from your participants’ payments.

The details view may show the price of your existing contract alongside the standard catalogue price. Withdrawing a cancellation within the current contract period continues the existing contract; it does not automatically conclude a new contract at the catalogue price.

Account: Payment and billing explains how your edoobox account is paid. Renewing a participant membership is described in Renew and cancel participant subscriptions.

Schedule cancellation or deactivation

  1. Open the plugin details and check the current term and existing use.
  2. Select the available cancellation or deactivation action.
  3. Read the consequences and confirm the action.
  4. Then check the status and end date in the details view.

For monthly plugins, deactivation is scheduled for the permitted end date. Existing obligations may postpone the effective shutdown further. For extensions that can be disabled immediately, the feature ends directly after confirmation.

Special considerations for the Abo-Manager

Before regular deactivation, active membership requirements on price categories must be removed. Check every affected price category and first decide which price or access route should apply in future.

Ongoing memberships, passes that are still valid and outstanding payment periods can prevent immediate shutdown. Passes with remaining uses but no end date require separate clarification; a displayed cancellation status is then not a reliable promise of immediate final shutdown.

While deactivation is scheduled, existing entitlements can still be redeemed. New sales and rate changes are blocked in the Abo-Manager, and automatic membership renewals are disabled. After reactivating the plugin, check these renewal settings again for each membership.

Example: Phase out the Abo-Manager in an orderly way

A provider wants to stop selling new passes. It first replaces the membership requirements on course prices, checks ongoing passes and outstanding amounts and schedules deactivation. It then verifies that existing eligible people can still use their passes and no new renewals occur.
