Multi-use passes, uses and redemption codes

A multi-use pass contains a defined number of uses, such as five or ten admissions. It can discount eligible bookings or satisfy a subscription prerequisite. Optionally, you can allow redemption by other people using a membership code or individual usage codes.

Set up a usage pass

  1. Create a plan under Memberships & Passes → New membership.
  2. In Validity, select Number of uses and enter a positive whole number.
  3. Set selling price, currency and VAT.
  4. Select scope and benefit. For a base price fully covered by the pass, use 100 percent, for example. For an access-only pass, 0 percent may be appropriate.
  5. Decide on transferable codes and parallel passes for the same person.
  6. Save and publish the plan or use it internally. Details are explained under Set up subscriptions.

A usage pass does not renew automatically. The usage model has no additional fixed expiry date. Use a time-based membership if a time limit is your essential criterion.

Reserved, consumed and available again

During an ongoing booking process, edoobox can reserve the required use. That reservation is not simultaneously available for other bookings. Upon the intended successful completion, the use is consumed. After the last available use, the personal membership shows Exhausted.

For a supported abort or cancellation, the associated reservation is released or the consumed use is credited back traceably. Processing the same cancellation again does not create a second credit. Entries remain in the history.

The check occurs per benefiting person or booking item. The payer’s membership does not automatically apply to every place in a group booking. For waiting lists, participant changes and rebookings, check status and actual usage entry after the specific process completes.

Example: The last use appears to be missing

A customer has one admission left, opens a booking process and starts another booking in parallel. The first booking may already have reserved the last use. Check the open cart before crediting an additional admission. A reservation is not yet completed participation, but temporarily reduces the freely available quantity.

Example: An offer with several lessons

A person uses their ten-use pass to book a normal offer whose price is calculated from three selected lessons. One pass use is consumed for this offer booking; the three priced lessons do not mean three pass uses. If two eligible people book one place each, eligibility is checked for each person. Separately booked offers or offer items may trigger further uses. Therefore plan your pass around the intended booking unit and compare the usage overview after completion.

A pass with a 0 percent benefit

A pass can serve solely to unlock a price category. For this, select a 0 percent benefit and link the pass under Prerequisite → Required membership in the additional price category. The use is required for the access prerequisite even though no further monetary discount arises.

If the same pass provides both access and a discount, the same required use is not consumed twice solely because of these two roles. If a promotion provides a better monetary benefit, pass usage may still be needed to unlock the price as required.

Allow other people to redeem a pass

  1. In the pass plan, enable Allow redemption via membership code.
  2. Have the person buy the pass and complete the required payment. The personal code is created when the appropriately configured pass is granted.
  3. The holder finds the code under My memberships and can share it for the intended use.
  4. The other person enters the code in the promo code field when booking an eligible offer.
  5. Before completing, check the price, benefiting person and available pass balance.

Membership codes start with M-. They use the same input field as promotion codes, but are tied to the specific pass and its shared balance. Sharing creates no additional uses. Active status, sufficient payment, scope and available admissions still apply.

An ordinary personal membership does not become generally transferable without an enabled code. Therefore choose this option deliberately and explain to customers what the code may be used for.

Offer individual codes per use

To selectively share individual admissions, you can enable Offer individual codes per use in the subscription purchase summary widget of the Bootstrap 5.3 purchase design. The underlying plan must be a usage pass with membership code redemption allowed. The purchase then offers the corresponding option. This feature is designed for passes with no more than 10 000 intended uses.

  1. Configure the pass and code redemption.
  2. Enable the option in the appropriate purchase design. The widget settings are described under Design Manager: Subscriptions and customer area.
  3. Have the customer choose individual code issuance when purchasing and complete the purchase.
  4. Then open My memberships. The individual codes appear in an expandable list with unused, reserved or consumed status. The available copy action copies the list.
  5. Share an unused individual code with the intended person. They use it in the promo code field of an eligible booking.

Individual codes start with S-. Each code represents exactly one use from the existing pass. A used or otherwise reserved code cannot be redeemed simultaneously again. Multiple codes do not create balances separate from the original pass.

A code may already be visible even though payment is still missing. Visibility does not mean redeemability: only a usable, sufficiently paid pass permits use. A correct cancellation restores the same admission and, where applicable, the same individual code; it does not create an additional new code.

Code typeWhat you share
Membership code M-The code accesses the pass’s shared remaining balance. Share it only if the recipient should be able to use that balance for eligible bookings.
Individual code S-The code shares exactly one use of the pass. Use it when you want to give a specific person a single admission.

Correct usage and clarify queries

In the customer profile, open Memberships, compare remaining uses with bookings and history, and use the offered action to increase uses for a deliberate credit. Enter a reason. This changes the balance but does not automatically create a second order.

If you remove the Membership benefit from a booking, a pass admission consumed solely for that benefit is returned. If the same pass is still needed as a price category prerequisite, this use remains. Therefore check price access and monetary discount separately.

For a rejected code, check spelling, the active and paid pass, eligible offer, remaining balance, and reservation or consumption of the individual code. Use the affected person and booking when investigating a case; do not publish real customer codes in publicly accessible descriptions.
