Booking notifications and sound

Configure visible booking notifications and the optional sound for your work in edoobox administration. This guide shows the two switches, explains the messages and describes what to check when there is no sound.

What the messages mean

While working in the open edoobox administration, you can receive notifications about registrations that have started or finished. An additional sound draws attention to these notifications. This helps, for example, a reception team check new records promptly.

The message appears in the running administration. It does not replace the booking list, a booking confirmation or proof of payment. If you close administration, sign out or lose the connection, do not rely on later sounds or uninterrupted background delivery.

Enable notifications and sound for your own admin profile

  1. Open Settings → System. Alternatively, search the settings for Booking notifications.
  2. In the Notifications section, enable Booking notifications. This allows visible notifications.
  3. Also enable Booking notification sound if you want a sound. The sound option is unavailable while notifications are disabled.
  4. Wait for saving to finish, then reopen the section to check both values.
  5. Check reception in the open administration using an intended booking process.

This selection is saved for your signed-in admin profile. Colleagues configure their own notifications and sound separately. For a quiet work environment, visible notifications can remain enabled while sound stays off.

Disabling Booking notifications also disables sound. After enabling notifications again, therefore check and separately enable sound if required.

Distinguish started from completed registrations

NoteWhat this means for processing
A registration has started.A person is in the booking process. This does not yet imply completed participation or successful payment.
A registration has been completed.Check the resulting record in the booking list. In particular, check active participation, waiting list or MustPay and the actual payment status.
General notification of a registration in progress. Not all personal or offer information is available for a detailed notification. Open the booking list rather than identifying a person from the notification alone.
Several registrations have started or finished within a short time. When many events occur, edoobox groups notifications within a time window. Therefore, do not expect a separate notification and sound for every registration.

A start and completion may belong to the same booking process. Do not count notifications as the number of new places. With MustPay, the required payment must also be checked; a group registration may contain several participants in one process.

No notification, or just no sound? Narrow down the cause

ObservationCheckNext step
No visible booking notification appears.Correct admin profile and account, notifications enabled, administration open and signed in, and connection available.Check the switch again and reload the view after a connection interruption. Check the actual record in the booking list.
The visible notification appears, but there is no sound.Personal sound switch, muted browser tab, system volume and selected output device.Unmute the edoobox tab and check audio output on the computer or headset being used.
Sound is missing after reopening or in another browser.Restrictions on automatic audio playback and interaction with the open page.Activate the edoobox tab, deliberately interact with the page once and check the browser's available sound/autoplay settings for this website. Then repeat an intended process.
With many registrations, a sound does not play every time.Combined notification about several registrations that have started or completed.Use the booking table for a complete follow-up check; notifications are not a list of individual events.

Browsers may restrict automatically started audio. Interaction with the website and its individual site settings play a role; rules differ by browser. The MDN browser documentation on automatic audio playback explains these limits. Enabling edoobox sound alone therefore does not guarantee audible playback.

If a visible notification stays silent despite sound being enabled, continue using visible notifications and the booking list. For technical investigation, record the browser and version, time, visible notification and state of both switches. There is no need to create another chargeable booking for this.

Example: Promptly check new bookings at reception

An office handles incoming registrations. The responsible person enables visible notifications and sound in their own admin profile. Administration remains open at the intended workstation; the tab, computer and output device are set to be audible.

  1. When a registration started notification appears, the office monitors the process but does not yet treat the notification as a definitive allocation of a place.
  2. After a completion notification, the responsible person opens the booking list and then booking details.
  3. They check the contact person, active participations and status. For MustPay or a payment issue, they check the associated transaction.
  4. When many registrations occur simultaneously, they work through the booking list using suitable filters. The number of sounds does not serve as a completeness check.
  5. A second person in the office can use notifications without sound in their own profile and handle agreed cases using the booking number.

For notifications outside this open workstation, configure a suitable separate information channel, such as internal registration information emails. Check their recipients and delivery in the outbox.

Check the result

  • After reopening the settings, notifications and the desired sound are still correctly configured in your own admin profile.
  • A visible notification and audible output are checked separately.
  • The team distinguishes between start, completion and combined notifications.
  • The actual booking and payment status is checked in booking details.
  • After the browser is closed or the connection interrupted, the team checks the booking list rather than waiting for delayed sounds.
