Set up the Comydo access system
With the Comydo integration, participants use their personal edoobox ticket at a configured door scanner. edoobox checks whether the person currently has an appropriate confirmed participation. Comydo controls the connected locking system.
An authorized scan can also set an attendance status. Physical setup of the scanner, door and locking system is handled with Comydo or your installation partner.
Check requirements and the plugin
- The Comydo plugin is available and enabled for your account in the Plugin Manager.
- You have write access to settings. Read access allows existing connections to be viewed; setup, changes and Check access require write access.
- Personal tickets are configured and the relevant people have confirmed bookings.
- The planned dates, offer assignments and rooms are maintained.
- Comydo can reach the address displayed by edoobox and send an authenticated verification request.
Open Global settings → Integrations → Access systems. If plugin details appear first, check activation in the Plugin Manager.
Distinguish connection, access point, scanner and rule
| Level | Task | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Connection | Contains the address and key for Comydo. | Sports centre |
| Access point / room | Groups scanners, access rules and an optional attendance status. | North hall – Entrance |
| Scanner | The specific device to which a ticket is presented. | North reader |
| Access rule | Determines eligible bookings and time windows. | Booked hall sessions with access 20 minutes before the start |
An access point can contain several scanners and rules. Within its connection, a scanner belongs to exactly one access point. One shared connection is often sufficient for several doors; an additional connection has its own address and key.
Create a Comydo connection
- Select Set up for the Comydo integration and enter a clear name.
- Save the connection. The Configured · not yet activated state is intended for preparation.
- Copy the displayed Webhook URL.
- In Comydo, enter the full URL for a request using POST and JSON, together with the displayed Bearer token.
- Keep the token secure. It is shown only now.
- Open Manage to prepare access points, scanners and rules.
This connection does not require an additional Comydo API account. Replacing the token under Advanced settings → Replace token immediately invalidates the previous key. Afterwards, update the Comydo configuration before expecting normal scans again.
Create an access point and configure its attendance effect
- Within the connection, select Add access point.
- Enter a name, for example «North hall – Entrance».
- Select Attendance status on scan or Do not change attendance.
- Save and open the access point using Manage.
For exit scans, create a separate access point with its own scanner and the desired exit status. Direction is not inferred solely from a single scanner or its name.
Assign scanners
Manually: Select Add scanner, enter a name and the device ID supplied by Comydo, and save its assignment to the open access point. Device IDs contain 8 to 20 hexadecimal characters. Do not use the same ID for a second access point.
Automatic detection: At the access point, select Detect scanner automatically. Perform a test scan on the new device. When the authenticated Comydo request arrives, New scanner detected appears. Select Assign scanner, check the access point and confirm.
A detected device receives access authorization only after you assign it. If the setup window expires, restart detection. «Last scan» confirms a received scan; read the result in the access log.
Define an access rule and time window
- At the access point, select Add rule.
- Enter a clear name.
- Choose access authorization based on an offer area or a room.
- Assign the required offer, an appropriate category or account level, or the room.
- Set admission before the start and after the end of the session. Allowed values are 0 to 1440 minutes in five-minute increments.
- Save and check the rule's activation status.
A category or account level also includes offers added beneath it in future. However, access is still granted only to people with a confirmed booking for a matching session. For multi-offers, the rule must match the booked sub-offer; the container does not grant blanket access.
The time window applies to each booked session. It grants neither continuous access between two course days nor permanent door opening. Waiting list entries, unconfirmed MustPay reservations, cancelled bookings and unbooked lessons are rejected. An unpaid invoice alone does not block an already confirmed regular participation. Align the intended payment rule with the booking process before use.
Which attendance records a successful scan changes
If an attendance status is configured, an authorized scan updates all of the person's currently running confirmed sessions in the account. This may include a simultaneous session in another offer. The session that allowed access within the before/after buffer is also included.
Other future sessions and unbooked lessons are not all marked as attended. A set status may be replaced by a subsequent authorized scan with a different status. Rejected scans do not change attendance. If the intended attendance cannot be saved, access is not granted either.
Check and activate access
- Check that the connection, access point, scanner and at least one appropriate rule are active.
- Under Check access, select the scanner and enter a personal ticket code.
- Check the result with a confirmed participation, a waiting list entry, a cancelled booking and a session outside the time window.
- Then perform an actual test scan at the connected device.
- Check the door response, access log and attendance where applicable.
Check access uses the current server time, opens no door and changes no attendance. The check also considers disabled connections and shows the corresponding rejection. It therefore does not replace testing at the physical door.
Investigate rejections in the log
| Message | What to check |
|---|---|
| Connection disabled | Activation status of the selected connection. |
| Scanner or access point unknown or disabled | Device ID, assignment and both activation statuses. |
| Ticket or person inactive | Current personal barcode and participant profile. |
| No matching confirmed participation in the time window | Booking, specific session, sub-offer, room and time buffer. |
| Attendance could not be saved | Check the attendance status and affected session; access is not granted. |
The access log shows checks for the selected connection and, where applicable, selected access point. Up to 200 entries per connection are stored, without ticket codes or tokens. The interface loads a limited recent selection from the account; with several connections, fewer entries may appear. The source distinguishes an actual scanner request from a test check. Use the log for current troubleshooting.
For a corporate booking, the contact does not automatically have access. What matters is the person actually booked. Assign names to unassigned places in good time and check the individual ticket association.
Saved, but the view did not refresh
If a message about access data not loading appears after saving, the change may already be saved. Select Refresh and check the existing connection before creating anything again. A newly displayed token must be securely captured on the first save; it will not be shown again after reloading. Replace it deliberately only if it is genuinely missing, then update Comydo.
Example: Entrance and exit of a training hall
A training hall uses one connection and two access points. The entrance scanner checks confirmed hall sessions with a 20-minute advance window and sets «Present». The exit has its own scanner, an appropriate rule with an after-session buffer, and sets the desired exit status. The team tests both directions with the same confirmed person and also tests an unbooked session.
