Design Manager: design subscriptions and the customer area
With the Design Manager, you design the public sale of participant subscriptions and passes as well as the personal subscription area. Depending on the labeling, the interface also uses “Membership” or “Memberships”. This refers to the subscriptions of your participants. You set up the plans in the Subscription Manager .
Check prerequisites
- Activate the function for participant subscriptions in the Plugin Manager .
- Create at least one plan as a draft. First prepare the purchase design, form, legal texts and customer area; then publish the plan in the Subscription Manager once the publication requirements are met.
- Open the design to be used in the Design Manager. For the subscription selection in the regular booking completion, you need Bootstrap 5.3.
- Maintain the booking process languages and the legal texts intended for the subscription purchase.
Without activation, the appropriate templates and insertion options are missing. A saved layout does not automatically make drafts, internal, or archived plans publicly purchasable.
Design the public subscription catalog
- Select the template for subscriptions or memberships in the Body.
- Insert a catalog as a Overview or List .
- Specify whether the description, price, VAT, validity, benefit, and Buy button are displayed.
- Maintain the label of the Buy button and the empty state for each language. Choose an appropriate button color.
- Save the widget and layout and open the public page.
The overview can additionally be used in Offers Overview or Offer Details. The list variant is intended for your own subscription template. Check whether the price, duration, and offered benefit are understandable together before someone starts the purchase.
An empty catalog can be correct: Check the plugin status and the publication of the plans before looking for a display error in the layout.
Build the subscription checkout as a separate purchase path
The subscription purchase has its own template. It does not take over a regular course registration with freely chosen dates. Open the subscription checkout template and keep the required components together:
| Component | Configuration and task |
|---|---|
| Form field | Connect with the correct participant data field, maintain the label and required fields. The intended fields for name and email must be usable. |
| Subscription Checkout Summary | Display VAT, validity, and automatic renewal. For suitable passes, the creation of individual redemption codes can be allowed. |
| Legal texts | Include the texts intended for the purchase with the required confirmations. |
| Subscription Checkout Actions | Purchase completion and return to the catalog. Set the button color. The appropriate completion label depends on the plan or pass and whether the purchase is paid or free. |
| Text block | Short notes on start, benefits, renewal, or contact in all languages used. |
Hiding a renewal notice does not disable renewal configured in the plan. Configure duration, cancellation and payment in the Subscription Manager. Individual redemption codes make sense only if the plan or pass supports this use; see Passes and redemption codes.
Link legal texts in the correct subscription design
- Check the selected purchase design in the plan and open Membership Catalog · Buy within it.
- Edit each required widget Legal Text or Legal Texts . Select the text under Linked Legal Text and determine whether its confirmation is required.
- Publish the desired language versions in the Legal Text Management . Then check the actual text language and labeling in the public purchase.
- Check visibility rules as a new person and as someone already signed in, and test mandatory confirmation with its checkbox left unchecked.
The legal texts of this subscription template take precedence over the transfer from the regular booking summary. Once your own subscription texts are stored, add all required texts there. The two selections are not automatically merged. A text block or hidden renewal label does not replace a confirmation and does not change a plan rule.
Language fallback, new versions, single purchase, and the limit of the subscription proof in the shared shopping cart are explained in Subscription Legal Texts and Confirmations . The customer area My Memberships remains required in the standard account design regardless of this.
Log in an existing person during subscription purchase
The subscription checkout can display a Magic Login notice with a login button for an existing person at the email field. To do this, open the email form field of this template and configure the offered email/Magic Login options. The notice leads to the existing login path. It does not automatically take over an existing profile solely by entering the address. The fields of the regular participant form and the subscription checkout are maintained separately.
Test a purchase while already signed in, entry with an existing email address, and a purchase by a new person. Afterwards, verify in the customer profile that the subscription belongs to the correct person. Magic Login in the participant form describes normal profile recognition during course booking.
Display My Subscriptions in the participant account
- Open the completion page or account template of the standard account design. The participant account uses this standard design even if a plan has its own purchase design.
- Add My Subscriptions or My Memberships .
- Select status, duration/period, remaining uses, and automatic renewal as visible information.
- Decide whether payment, invoice, and cancellation actions are displayed.
- Maintain the title and empty state in each language and check the page with a logged-in customer account.
The widget displays the signed-in person’s subscriptions. The actions actually available also depend on status and business rules. Enabling the cancellation action therefore does not guarantee that every subscription can be cancelled in every state. An empty area for a person without a subscription is also a meaningful display state.
In the checked state, the confirmation page for cancellation can be opened, but the execution fails due to a missing cancellation reason in the customer path. Therefore, do not rely on a visible button as proof of a completed cancellation. Edit such cancellations administratively in the customer profile with a reason and check the end of the duration and renewal; see Renewal and Cancellation .
The work in the administrative customer profile is described in Manage Participant Subscriptions .
Add subscription selection when booking an offer
In the Summary / Complete template, you can insert the Subscription Selection with an active plugin and Bootstrap 5.3. It offers suitable subscriptions for the specific booking process. In the widget, you determine whether a selection is allowed and whether validity and remaining uses are displayed.
Configure access to a price category for specific subscriptions under Price categories. A catalogue on the detail page, a visible login button or a tag filter does not replace this restriction. Book and use subscriptions explains the usage and benefit rules.
Connect navigation and languages
Edit the navigation menu in the header, activate the subscription entry, and select the color and label for each language. The entry leads to the public catalog. If you leave a custom text empty, edoobox uses the organization language where possible, and then the product name.
Check the catalog, checkout, and customer area in each active language. In particular, Buy, Back, Duration, Renewal, Remaining Uses, and the text for missing subscriptions are important. The six subscription widget types are intended once in their respective template; edit an existing central component if its re-insertion is locked.
Check after a plugin change
Saved layouts are retained upon deactivation, but public functions depend on the current plugin status. Check the catalog, navigation, and customer area after reactivation. Removing a widget does not cancel a subscription and does not archive a plan.
Check the result with complete examples
- A published plan appears with the correct price, tax, duration, and benefit; a draft does not appear as a purchasable offer.
- An empty catalog has a clear text.
- A new and an existing customer can complete the intended purchase path.
- After purchase, the correct person sees their subscription with the correct status and period.
- An outstanding payment, existing invoice, consumed uses and possible cancellation each show appropriate actions.
- An entitled subscription and a person without entitlement generate the expected booking path and price.
- Layout, all labels, and buttons also work on mobile and in the real website integration.
Connect shopping cart and course purchase completion
Open the design settings and, under Booking view, choose whether the completion action stays in the classic booking process or first opens Memberships with shopping cart. In the classic process, Offer shopping cart on the completion button can provide an additional entry point. These settings apply to the specific offer purchase; the separate subscription checkout template remains the purchase path for a plan or pass.
The Guide to Shopping Cart and Completion Action describes button labeling, shopping cart in the navigation, exceptions for list bookings, and the control of the actual price impact.
